Job Description

Centennial Foot and Ankle is hiring a part-time AI Software Developer / Technical Co-Pilot to help transition a validated MVP into a secure, production-ready SaaS for healthcare. This hybrid role in Las Vegas, NV offers a student wage of $25 per hour, plus flexible scheduling that can be tailored around your coursework. You will work closely with the founder and experienced pre-production engineering mentors from a platform partner, gaining hands-on experience on a real healthcare product journey, not a toy demo.

What you’ll do

  • Connect and orchestrate API calls to LLMs within the existing backend infrastructure.
  • Implement context window management, prompt caching, and token-saving strategies to improve efficiency and support strong profit margins.
  • Build verification layers that produce structured JSON outputs and use strict system prompting to support clinical accuracy and data reliability.
  • Design and deploy Convex schemas, mutations, and queries to support secure data flows.
  • Collaborate with the founder and platform compliance teams to maintain a secure, HIPAA-compliant architecture.

What you’ll bring

  • Currently enrolled at UNLV as an undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate student studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and Python (and other related tooling).
  • Familiarity with modern backend concepts, real-time databases such as Convex or Firebase, and REST/GraphQL APIs.
  • Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini, with strong understanding of token mechanics and prompt engineering (highly valued).
  • Comfort working independently as a self-starter, including researching solutions when requirements are ambiguous, and interest in generative AI workflows.

Specode, Convex, Claude 4.6 Opus, Claude 4.6 Sonnet, Gemini, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Firebase, REST, GraphQL, LLMs, and HIPAA.
