Mid-Level Software Engineer
Job Description
Leidos is filling a Mid-Level Software Engineer position on the Chinook Program, supporting an Intelligence Community customer on site in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The role centers on designing, developing, and delivering secure, cloud native software that spans the full stack to empower GEOINT missions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that support the GEOINT mission for the customer.
- Participate in agile development sprints and contribute to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Build and maintain secure, containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Develop RESTful APIs and user facing interfaces with modern tools such as React, Node.js, Flask or Sprint Boot.
- Collaborate with mission users and product managers to refine requirements and improve user experience.
- Support DevSecOps pipelines and ensure code meets security and accreditation standards.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed.
- Resolve various tasks as prioritized by the team product owner.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required for this contract.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a Polygraph examination.
- Web technologies including HTML, CSS, JSON, Ajax, and REST APIs.
- Object oriented programming with Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Advanced programming with Go.
- Front end and back end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, jQuery, Spring Boot, Django, Node.js, Flask, or Sprint Boot.
- Cloud development experience with AWS, Azure, or similar platforms.
- Relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
- Operating systems including Windows and Linux.
- Version control using Git.
- Strong understanding of modern software design patterns and coding standards.
- Experience architecting, developing, and delivering complex production software systems.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins and agile tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS (C2S or GovCloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of secure coding practices and government system accreditation processes (RMF, STIGs).
- Proactive learner with a drive to pick up new languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
