Lead Software Engineer- Java or Python

Lead Software Engineer specializing in Java or Python, based onsite in New York, NY, within JPMorgan Chase's Consumer and Community Banking group. You will serve as a core technical contributor on an agile team, lead architectural evaluations, and participate in communities of practice. This role requires at least five years of hands-on experience and offers a salary range of USD 152,000 to 215,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement innovative software solutions, perform architectural evaluations, and troubleshoot complex problems beyond routine methods.
• Develop user interfaces and interactive web features using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Produce secure, production-ready code and conduct reviews and debugging of peers' work.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring remediation tasks to improve overall operational stability of applications and systems.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, credentials, and applicability within existing information architecture.
• Champion communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
• Experience building microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Python.
• Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems, RESTful APIs and web technologies.
• Hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-scale, high-volume data processing applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of RESTful Web Services and WebSockets/JSON.
• Agile development experience with SCRUM or similar methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end languages (Java, Spring, Python) with practical cloud-native experience.
• Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and familiarity with automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Strong understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile).
