Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack Engineer
Job Description
JPMorgan Chase is seeking a seasoned Lead Software Engineer to help shape the architecture and evolution of scalable, resilient personal financial management tools within its Connected Banking group. This on-site role in New York City centers on delivering secure, production-grade code while guiding AI-assisted engineering practices and fostering cross-team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot software with an eye for creative solutions that go beyond routine approaches to tackle complex problems.
- Produce secure, high-quality production code and provide reviews and debugging support for peers.
- Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of applications and systems.
- Lead adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns.
- Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value.
- Facilitate evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and determine applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
- Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to raise awareness and usage of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Contribute to a team culture that emphasizes diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
- Proven ability to lead the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) and set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Docker and Kubernetes, and Cassandra or other NoSQL databases.
- Front-end proficiency in React/ReactJS, Redux, Angular/AngularJS, ExtJS, jQuery, or NodeJS.
- Experience with automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Proficiency across all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Proven ability to apply software engineering practices within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
- Hands-on cloud-native experience on AWS.
