Job Description

This contract Lead Software Engineer role supports a major corporation based in Orlando, Florida. The position is hybrid, with 4 days per week on-site and Fridays remote, and the work centers on backend tooling for AI and data-driven applications, including automation pipelines plus monitoring and logging.

As a lead, you will design and maintain systems that help teams ship reliably, troubleshoot effectively, and scale. The role also includes active participation in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) responsibilities through established policies, procedures, training, and team involvement activities.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend tools, automation scripts, services, and automation pipelines that support AI and data-driven applications.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and database management to help ensure performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with other teams, document best practices, and uphold security and compliance standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across the backend, database, and automation components.
  • Stay current with backend, AI, and automation technologies to drive scalability and efficiency.
  • Understand and participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following policy, procedures, training, and team involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills

  • Python with strong programming ability; additional experience with JavaScript, C, and C++.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML development, backend tooling, and automation pipelines.
  • Proficiency with SQL and database technologies for data modeling and backend integration, including both relational and NoSQL systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and scripting.
  • Understanding of backend architectures, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration, able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
