Job Description
Disney Experiences seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own multi-system delivery for the Disney Experiences (DXT) team, onsite in Bay Lake, FL, with a yearly compensation range of USD 148,300 to 180,000.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and run real-time, event driven systems that ingest and process data from edge devices
- Build backend services and streaming pipelines with Java and Apache Flink to shape data into reliable events, handling guest media and identity reconciliation
- Architect and operate production systems on AWS with emphasis on scalability, cost efficiency, observability, and fault tolerance
- Lead end to end delivery across multiple systems, balancing domain goals with technical constraints to deliver impactful features
- Drive architectural decisions and own critical components of the platform
- Create clean, versioned event schemas and APIs for downstream consumers and external integrations
- Act as an autonomous technical liaison and team representative
- Mentor junior engineers and present to executive stakeholders
- Contribute to estimation and planning of sophisticated scalable projects
- Occasional travel may be required, estimated at 10 to 15 percent
Requirements
- Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience, including distributed, production systems
- At least three years of cross team technical leadership with end to end ownership of multi service initiatives and architecture decisions implemented at scale
- Lead through technical influence rather than people management
- Expertise in building real time or streaming data pipelines, including ingestion, aggregation, windowing, and emission
- Experience with AWS IoT Core, Kinesis, Kafka, and MQTT
- Expert-level proficiency in Java
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and timeseries databases like Timestream or InfluxDB
- Strong understanding of event driven architecture, schema evolution, and downstream integration
- Proven ability to design and deliver observable, resilient, and scalable systems
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies to inform recommendations
