Jr. SW Developer
Job Description
A junior software developer will join an Agile team to design and build modern cloud-native web applications for a large government agency, utilizing Angular and Java/Spring Boot on AWS, with a hybrid work arrangement in Fairfax, VA.
Location and Compensation
Location: Fairfax, Virginia, hybrid work model. Salary range: USD 58,000 to 123,800 per year.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the architecture and development of cloud-native web applications built with Angular and Java/Spring Boot as part of an Agile team.
- Produce clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices and share knowledge to strengthen the team's ability to deliver robust applications.
- Engage in all stages of the Agile software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, estimation, coding, code reviews, and testing.
- Create and review frontend code using AI-assisted paired programming techniques.
- Deploy and operate applications on AWS using containerized environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop and consume RESTful APIs, gaining exposure to API design patterns and microservice communication.
- Build a solid foundation in data structures, problem solving, algorithm design, and data formats such as JSON and YAML.
- Participate in daily standups, collaborative coding sessions, and sprint ceremonies to maintain steady progress.
- Engage with clients and end users to provide a technical perspective on application capabilities.
- Join technical design discussions to create sustainable, high-performing features with reliable estimates.
- Author automated tests across frontend and backend, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Continuously pursue improvements in development tooling, processes, and system architecture.
- Gain practical experience in database design and optimizing data access patterns, such as PostgreSQL.
Requirements
- Familiarity with modern programming languages and technologies, such as HTML, Angular, Java, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

- Strong communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and within a dynamic team, delivering quality code for reviews and demonstrations.
- Willingness to research, learn, and apply emerging technologies.
- US citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.
