Jr. Java Developer
Job Description
This Jr. Java Developer role places you on an Agile team building a modern web application for a government client, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and Angular. The position offers hybrid work options in Fairfax, VA, with additional sites in Lafayette, LA, or Knoxville, TN.
Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 70,800 - 172,400.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review web application code across Java, JavaScript, the Spring framework, Angular, and SQL components.
- Participate in daily team discussions and collaborative coding to promote steady progress.
- Provide technical input during client, industry, and end user discussions to shape the application.
- Join technical design sessions to craft scalable features, delivering accurate estimates and development timelines.
- Pursue ongoing improvement of existing development tools and technologies.
- Create automated testing scripts to validate the application.
- Contribute to system architecture enhancements and improvements.
- Apply principles of database design and optimize backend data access.
- Maintain direct interaction with clients and end users to understand software needs and discuss architectural and technical choices.
Requirements
- Background in Java development with full stack experience including modern Angular versions.
- Experience with the Spring framework is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with RESTful web services and leveraging them to support dynamic user interfaces, alongside general best practices for Agile software development.
- Proficiency with SQL and database tools to design and support backend data access.
- Ability to code and structure applications using industry best practices while sharing knowledge to grow the team’s capabilities.
- Minimum of 1 year of web application development experience.
- Strong understanding of modern Java, Angular, JavaScript, and SQL coding practices.
- Capacity to work independently and within a dynamic team, delivering high quality code for review and demonstration.
- Experience with modern Java development tools such as Maven, Git, Tomcat, Eclipse, Bamboo, and related environments.
- Understanding of RESTful service development.
- Effective communication with internal team members and customers; able to research, learn, and apply new technologies quickly.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another technical discipline.
- Positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to contribute to team success.
- CGI cannot sponsor international hires for this position; US citizenship is required.
