Jr. GIS Developer
Job Description
Genex Systems is seeking a Jr. GIS Developer to support Enterprise GIS initiatives for NASA. The role centers on broad ESRI tool usage with a focus on the Enterprise Portal, experience with low or no-code applications, and SDSFIE knowledge. This onsite position in Virginia spans the full development lifecycle and involves collaborating with clients, end users, and project teams to deliver effective GIS solutions.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and enhance GIS systems within an Enterprise Portal environment, primarily within the ESRI ecosystem.
- Design applications across the full development lifecycle, emphasizing low- and no-code ESRI solutions, including requirements, planning, design, development, testing, documentation, and release.
- Create design artifacts, write documentation, wireframes, and visualize application workflows.
- Define requirements in partnership with clients and propose practical, implementable solutions.
- Manage multiple application design projects concurrently, handling multiple workflows at once.
- Research, test, build, and coordinate the conversion or integration of new products based on client needs.
- Address systems integration and compatibility across multiple platforms.
- Consult with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
- Perform feasibility analyses on potential future projects for management review.
- Assist in evaluating and recommending application software packages, integration tools, and testing utilities.
- Resolve software issues and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
- Create and maintain metadata.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience working in ESRI Enterprise and Online environments, with strong exposure to Experience Builder, Survey123, and webhooks preferred.
- At least three years designing programming applications from requirements to execution, including data structure design and code optimization.
- Two or more years designing, developing, enhancing, debugging, and implementing software.
- Experience independently troubleshooting production problems related to software applications.
- One or more years of experience using Python, ArcPy, or a combination of the two.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, GIS, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of related experience, with at least three years of work with a remote team.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
