Job Description

Rare Candy is looking for a Fullstack Developer to strengthen its Ops toolchain, the set of internal tools used by the warehouse, logistics, and Instapacks operations team. This is hands-on product engineering that supports real operational work, partnering closely with the CTO and the engineering team to ship improvements and solve logistic problems.

The role is based in Dallas, TX and is designed for a developer who can move quickly from understanding a workflow to delivering a clean, tested change in production. With 3+ years of fullstack experience, you’ll help raise the quality bar and increase efficiency on systems that matter day to day.

What you’ll do

  • Build and improve the Ops toolchain that supports the Warehouse and Logistics teams.
  • Fix bugs, improve bottlenecks, and raise the overall quality of the Ops toolchain.
  • Collaborate with ops and engineering to increase efficiency on hard problems.
  • Learn quickly and communicate clearly when work is blocked, unclear, or ready for review.

What you bring

  • 3 to 5 years of fullstack development experience with Go.
  • Comfort building with React or other React frameworks.
  • Experience with GraphQL, or API experience that allows you to ramp quickly.
  • Care for product quality and the “little details” that make internal tools easier to use.
  • Experience building internal tools and a mindset focused on understanding the user to build the right solution.
  • Comfort in a fast-moving startup where priorities can shift and iterative improvement is expected.
  • Knowledge of the trading-card or collector world, including collecting, playing, ripping packs, following the market, or similar collectible fluency.

Technologies

  • Go
  • React
  • GraphQL

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary: USD $140,000 - $160,000 per year
  • Competitive startup comp with meaningful equity upside
  • Full benefits: health, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Wellness stipend
  • Monthly dogfooding budget to spend on cards

How the role ramps up

  • First 30 days: Get the various ops tools running locally, understand core problems, and ship your first meaningful fixes or small features.
  • By Day 90: Regularly ship features for the Ops team with support from the CTO and principal engineer, taking well-scoped improvements from questions to implementation, testing, and delivery.
  • By the end of year one: Become the main point of contact for the most important part of the Instapack business, shipping meaningful improvements to the Ops toolchain while growing your Go and React skills and building ownership over increasingly business-critical items.

A day in the role

  • Start by checking in with the warehouse team and reviewing feedback on a feature shipped the previous day.
  • Pair with other engineers on improvements across backend services.
  • After lunch, tighten up a dashboard, fix an edge case, and test flows against real time operations.
  • Later, join operations discussions about launching a new Instapacks game and ensure the toolchain can support it.
  • Close the day by opening a PR with a clear summary and notes about what still needs review.

Reporting line

  • Reports to the CTO
  • Department: Engineering

Application instructions

  • Describe an internal tool you built: what you owned, key technical choices, and the result.
  • Explain a bug you debugged: what made it tricky, how you tracked it down, and what you learned.
  • Share which trading-card or collector communities you understand best, including your favorite card, set, format, deck, rip, or collector niche.
