Full Stack Senior Lead Software Engineer- Hedge Fund Technology

The New York onsite role sits at the heart of JPMorgan Chase's Hedge Fund Technology within Asset & Wealth Management's Highbridge Capital Management, where senior engineers shape scalable, secure software in a fast-moving, agile environment. You'll blend hands-on development with strategic collaboration across Java, Python, and React, while leveraging AWS and AI-enabled practices to deliver mission-critical financial applications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with business users to capture and refine requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain key financial applications using Java and Python.
• Rapidly assess and support existing services and codebases as part of ongoing operations.
• Understand and support the AWS cloud infrastructure platform used by the firm.
• Develop a deep understanding of current data models to inform design and delivery.
• Promote AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, speed, and reliability, establishing measurable validation standards and encouraging reusable automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
• Leverage and extend the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value at scale.
• Work with third-party vendor systems for integration, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Operate in a fast-paced, test-driven, agile development setting.
• Provide technical guidance to the business and to internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Influence product design, application functionality, and operational processes through technical decisions.
• Contribute to the engineering community by advocating for firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices.
• Encourage peers and project stakeholders to consider and adopt leading-edge technologies.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of practical experience.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proven programming proficiency in Java, Python, and React JS.
• Experience with AWS Public Cloud technologies and Terraform.
• Strong database skills with RDS Oracle and RDS SQL Server, plus solid SQL query abilities.
• Track record of leading the use of enterprise AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for AI output validation, correctness, performance, and security.
• Solid understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security requirements; experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage patterns.
• Ability to independently tackle design and functionality problems with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills across full-stack applications and a strong enthusiasm for coding and technology.
• Adaptability to cover multiple roles within the software development lifecycle, including technical business analysis and DevOps responsibilities.
• Educational background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
