Job Description

Walnut Creek, CA (onsite) role with Charles Schwab offers an opportunity to own ongoing client relationships while delivering holistic financial planning and tailored investment guidance aligned to Schwab’s approach. You will work closely with an experienced advisory team, set an operating cadence for a book of business, and support clients through complex, multi-step financial decisions in an in-office environment.

This position is eligible for a $168,000 - $251,000 per year salary range and includes bonus or incentive opportunities in addition to the base compensation. A bachelor’s degree is required.

What you’ll do

  • Manage ongoing client relationships and guide clients through complex financial decisions.
  • Deliver holistic financial planning by synthesizing planning inputs into recommendations aligned to client objectives.
  • Provide tailored investment guidance consistent with Schwab’s investing approach.
  • Collaborate with an experienced advisory team to support clients across multiple workstreams.
  • Set an operating cadence for a book of business by prioritizing high-impact activities, coordinating across partners, and communicating tradeoffs, timelines, and next steps to ensure consistent service and follow-through.
  • Coach others informally to raise advisory quality and improve client experience.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex client relationships, including diagnosing needs through advanced discovery, handling sensitive conversations with diplomacy, and translating sophisticated concepts into clear, tailored guidance that drives action and builds trust.
  • Ability to develop and communicate holistic financial plans for high-complexity scenarios such as concentrated positions, tax-aware strategies, and multi-goal planning, while aligning portfolios to objectives, risk profile, and long-term outcomes.
  • A senior learning mindset by seeking input from peers and leaders, applying feedback to measurable behavior changes, and sharing best practices while coaching others informally.
  • Sound judgment and risk awareness, including recognizing when additional expertise is needed, surfacing concerns early, and escalating with clear context and options to protect the client experience and meet fiduciary and regulatory expectations.
  • CFP® or CFA® designation.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Active FINRA Series 7 license (may be obtained with a 120-day condition of employment).
  • Active FINRA Series 66 license (or equivalent) (may be obtained within the first 120 days).
