Developer Experience Lead
Job Description
Lead Bank is hiring a senior individual-contributor to own developer documentation and partner communications end to end for the developer experience surface.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day management of docs.lead.bank.
- Continuously improve documentation usability, discoverability, information architecture, and developer workflows by treating docs as a product.
- Create implementation guides, tutorials, diagrams, quickstarts, and reference documentation to reduce time-to-first-success.
- Develop and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and editorial processes, including stewardship of the API Style Guide.
- Measure documentation effectiveness using search analytics, user feedback, and adoption metrics, then close the loop on findings.
- Collaborate early with Product and Engineering so documentation ships alongside releases, not after.
- Own the partner-facing communication surface for planned platform changes, including feature rollouts, deprecations, and breaking changes.
- Own the Changelog and Upcoming Changes page as the single source of truth, keeping timelines current as they firm up.
- Steward breaking-change notice-period discipline, including clear expectations, consistent lead times, and explicit required actions.
- Run the intake-to-publish workflow: partner with Product and Engineering to capture technical details, then edit for clarity, customer impact, and a single consistent voice before publishing.
- Ensure partner communications answer, in order: what changed, why it matters to the partner, what they need to do, and where to learn more.
- Partner with engineers and product managers to translate complex technical concepts, including the object model and API design, into developer-friendly content.
- Create onboarding guides, implementation playbooks, architecture diagrams, sample applications, and migration guides that help developers succeed faster.
- Support Product Marketing with technical thought leadership and educational content, and identify opportunities for guides, videos, and developer showcases.
- Leverage AI to improve documentation creation, maintenance, quality assurance, and content operations.
- Build repeatable workflows that enable Engineering and Product to contribute documentation efficiently.
- Improve not only content, but also the underlying systems for documentation and communications.
- Evaluate emerging AI tools and documentation technologies to keep the developer experience ahead of the curve.
- Define standards, processes, and operating rhythms so a small team can support the surface long-term without fragmenting quality or voice.
Requirements
- 6+ years across developer experience, developer education, technical writing, developer-facing product marketing, or a related discipline.
- Exceptional written communication focused on clarity and usability, with judgment to write calmly and precisely about changes that affect partners in production.
- Ability to read an API specification and reason about an object model, demonstrating understanding of the systems being documented.
- Experience working closely with engineering teams on technical, API-first products.
- Strong product instincts and empathy for developers.
- Experience with documentation platforms such as Mintlify, ReadMe, GitBook, or Docusaurus, plus comfort with docs-as-code workflows and GitHub.
- Comfort using AI tools to improve documentation and content workflows.
- Proven ability to set standards and operate independently by owning the surface end to end.
