Job Description

Data Engineer role in Amazon's Worldwide Ops Finance Standardization and Automation to build scalable data infrastructure, ETL pipelines, and analytics platforms for Operations Finance customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain complex data solutions and ETL pipelines leveraging Python, Spark, SQL, and AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, MWAA, EMR, Lambda).
  • Architect scalable data systems to support customer reporting and internal Finance analytics infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources, ensuring data quality and balancing design tradeoffs.
  • Partner with business users, developers, and BI engineers to deliver on data architecture initiatives and next generation financial solutions.
  • Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning; improve reporting processes and automate self service support.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive innovation, scale existing solutions, and create new ones aligned with stakeholder needs.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues with detailed root-cause analyses to maintain high availability and reliability.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of data engineering experience.
  • Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems as they relate to data storage and computing.

About the Team

The Operations Finance data ecosystem supports global data management solutions and scalable capabilities for 10+ data producer teams and 2,500 finance customers. The role will collaborate with BIE and DE teams across the organization to identify critical customer pain points and design, implement, and drive the data journey. As AI capabilities evolve, the role will explore mechanisms to integrate AI driven workflows for builders and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.
  • Experience with non-relational databases or data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases).
  • Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems.
