Data Engineer - People Analytics

As a Data Engineer on CVS Health’s People Analytics Data Engineering team, you will help turn HR and workforce data into reliable inputs for analytics and reporting. The role focuses on building and operating data pipelines, data warehouse models, and reproducible workflows that support People and Workforce insights across cloud data platforms.

This onsite position is based in Raleigh, NC, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. CVS Health anticipates that the application window will close on 10/22/2026.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and run dependable data pipelines and ETL processes to integrate HR data from systems including Workday, talent management, payroll, and other sources.
• Develop and refine data workflows to support accuracy, quality, and availability for the People Analytics team and HR and business-unit stakeholders.
• Lead and support a team of data engineers by mentoring, providing guidance on data engineering best practices, and reinforcing version control and coding standards.
• Partner with People Analytics to structure data for analysis, create data models, and produce repeatable workflows that enable efficient reporting in R, Python, and other analytics tools.
• Ensure data governance and security requirements are followed in line with company policies and industry regulations, with an emphasis on HR data confidentiality and compliance.
• Collaborate with HR leaders, IT, and People Analytics teams to clarify business needs, streamline data requests, and support strategic decision-making with insights.

What you bring

• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering
• 3+ years experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools
• 3+ years experience with SQL and relational databases
• 2+ years experience programming in Python for data manipulation, automation, and analysis
• 3+ years experience with cloud platforms, with preference for GCP (Azure or AWS may be considered)
• 2+ years experience with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery
• 2+ years experience with scheduling tools such as Airflow or Composer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (required)

Compensation and schedule

Pay range: USD 83,430 - 222,480 per year. Time type: Full time. Anticipated weekly hours: 40.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms and HR-context data flows
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and automate data processes
• Communication skills to explain complex technical processes to non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle BI, and Visier
• Preferably technical experience related to people or talent analytics, data engineering, visualization, business intelligence, or analytical consulting
