Job Description
South Texas Radiology Group, P.A. is seeking a Data Engineer to help turn data from multiple sources into reliable, business-ready information. This onsite role in San Antonio, TX supports reporting, analytics, and physician performance measurement by building and maintaining data pipelines and a centralized data warehouse.
What you will do
- Follow STRG Policies and Procedures at all times.
- Gather information for moderately complex processes, analyze data and trends, and identify root causes.
- Build and maintain infrastructure for a centralized data store (data warehouse), including selecting platform components and implementing ELT/ETL best practices to import data from agency EHRs and web-based sources.
- Partner with internal managers and external partners to set up data pipelines into the warehouse for reporting and other business functions, with a focus on data integrity across integrated systems.
- Collaborate with the President on reporting needs for physician productivity and other measurables, and with the Vice President as needed for physician scheduling and reporting.
- Support enterprise reporting by helping create data dictionaries and delivering warehouse-backed reports.
- Maintain a data normalization strategy for new incoming data and build a semantic layer to support KPI and business metric development.
- Assist with data mining and analytics to support executive decision making and corporate strategy, including a data management strategy covering data acquisition and archive recovery.
- Support business teams in interacting with the data warehouse and/or data sources.
- Maintain CI/CD practices for accurate, accessible business data and provide transparency into development processes using Agile project management principles.
- Review and audit reports, data sources, and data streams for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage and deploy BI tools for company teams.
- Support departmental initiatives as requested.
- Assist with alerting and educating staff on EHR changes, plus system administrative set-up when requested.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient protected health information in line with STRG procedures and HIPAA Privacy, Security, HITECH, and Transactions and Code Sets regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
What you bring
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask multiple priorities.
- Advanced Excel knowledge and experience required.
- Knowledge of analytical and BI tools, including MS Excel, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- Programming skills in Python, SQL, and shell/bash, along with expertise in database technologies, ELT/ETL, REST APIs, data warehousing, and workflow management tools.
- Experience querying and maintaining relational databases including SQL Server and Postgres, and version controlling using GitHub.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies, GCP, and cloud-native applications.
- Cursory understanding of healthcare terminology, including CPT, RVU, and charge terminology.
- Knowledge of revenue cycle systems and mapping logic within billing tables.
- 4 years of end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics or current/future state analysis, in direct support of business planning initiatives.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration.
Work schedule and attendance
- Maintaining and satisfying minimum attendance requirements is essential, including working all full-time regular hours and scheduled or emergency overtime as needed.
- Full-time regular hours are Monday through Friday, with after-hours or weekends as required.
- Unpredictable or unrestricted absences are not allowed for this job classification.
