Job Description

VeeRteq Solutions Inc. is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Philadelphia, PA 19160 (hybrid). The role focuses on building and leading enterprise-grade data platforms, with hands-on development across Azure and Databricks. This position blends architecture, pipeline engineering, and technical leadership to support analytics, AI/ML, and data-driven business initiatives.

What you will work on

You will design, build, and lead scalable data platform capabilities, including data lakes and lakehouse solutions. The work includes modernizing cloud data architectures, improving performance and reliability, and partnering with business and technical teams to deliver trusted data for downstream use cases.

  • Design and build scalable data platforms, data lakes, and lakehouse solutions
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure and Databricks
  • Lead data architecture, data modeling, and cloud modernization initiatives
  • Mentor data engineering teams and help establish best practices
  • Enhance platform performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency
  • Implement CI/CD, monitoring, and production support processes
  • Collaborate with business leaders, architects, analysts, and product teams
  • Support analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and other data-driven initiatives

Core skills and technologies

  • Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • PySpark, Python, Advanced SQL
  • Delta Lake and Data Lakehouse Architecture
  • Data modeling and ETL/ELT development
  • Azure Cloud Services, Git and CI/CD
  • Agile/Scrum

Additional tools and platforms you may use include Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Event Hub, Kafka, Power BI, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Data Governance & Metadata Management, Monitoring & Observability Tools, and AI/ML Data Pipelines.

Experience requirements

  • 10+ years in Data Engineering
  • 7+ years with Azure Data Services
  • 5+ years with Azure Databricks
  • Experience leading enterprise cloud data modernization projects

Preferred background

  • Healthcare payer domain experience (strong preference)
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders and leadership teams
