Job Description

The Data Engineer at Goodin Company helps distribution operations make better inventory and pricing decisions by building reliable reporting, dashboards, and data pipelines. The position focuses on transforming ERP and point-of-sale data into actionable insights used across sales, inventory, warehouse, and vendor workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Write and optimize SQL queries on ERP data (for example, Infor CloudSuite or comparable distribution ERP systems) to support pricing, purchasing, and sales reporting
  • Create automated reporting for branch and location comparisons, slow-moving versus fast-moving SKUs, and seasonal demand trends, including HVAC seasonality
  • Support rebate and vendor incentive program reporting and reconciliation
  • Automate recurring reports for sales teams, purchasing managers, and branch operations to reduce manual Excel-based work
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that feed the reporting and data warehouse layer from ERP, WMS, and e-commerce/B2B ordering platforms
  • Monitor and validate data integrity across item master data, pricing tables, vendor catalogs, and multi-warehouse inventory records
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies between systems, including ERP versus WMS inventory counts and EDI order data mismatches
  • Support data cleanup initiatives for SKU rationalization, vendor part number cross-referencing, and pricing matrix accuracy
  • Support and troubleshoot ERP reporting modules and vendor/manufacturer EDI transactions
  • Maintain documentation for data sources, report logic, and distribution business rules such as pricing tiers, contract pricing, and rebate calculations
  • Ensure reporting supports accurate sales tax, compliance, and audit needs across multi-state branch operations
  • Collaborate with end users and sales leadership to gather reporting requirements tied to HVAC seasonality and product mix
  • Communicate inventory and sales performance insights in a format suitable for non-technical branch staff
  • Train counter and branch staff, along with sales representatives, on accessing dashboards and using self-service reporting tools

Requirements
