Job Description

At University of Vermont Health - UVM Medical Center, the Data Engineer on the Microsoft Fabric platform plays a key role in connecting clinical and operational data to the organization’s unified enterprise data model. This onsite position in South Burlington, VT supports reliable, accurate, and well-documented data movement into a Microsoft Fabric lakehouse environment using an agile delivery approach.

The Data Engineer, Microsoft Fabric develops and maintains data pipelines and integration layers that bring data from source systems into UVM Health’s enterprise model on Microsoft Fabric. The focus is on dependable data flow from Epic Clarity/Caboodle and operational systems into Fabric, with emphasis on pipeline documentation, testing, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and integration layers that move data from source systems into UVM Health’s unified enterprise data model on Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ensure reliable, accurate, and well-documented data movement from Epic Clarity/Caboodle and operational systems into the Fabric lakehouse environment.
  • Work within an agile development methodology and follow team standards for pipeline documentation, testing, and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of data engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using SQL for data transformation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Epic Clarity or Caboodle data structures is preferred.
  • Experience working in agile product delivery is preferred.

Compensation: USD 43 to 65 per hour. Minimum experience: 2 years.
