Data Engineer

Join EXL Service in Philadelphia, PA (onsite) to help support and evolve enterprise data platforms for a telecom client. In this role, you will focus on ETL reliability and performance, continuous platform improvement, and close coordination with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver dependable, high-quality data solutions.

What you’ll do

• Ensure stability and availability of enterprise data platforms by owning ETL operations, infrastructure support, and process optimization.
• Manage stakeholder requests and drive improvements based on operational needs and platform observations.
• Monitor daily ETL workflows, troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive solutions to reduce repeat incidents.
• Review technical requirements and assess code changes, including testing and deployment of platform enhancements.
• Coordinate with vendors and upstream teams to incorporate source system changes without disrupting downstream processing.
• Monitor database and server performance, capacity, and resource utilization, proactively addressing bottlenecks and scaling constraints.
• Maintain operational documentation and support client communications, including status updates, stakeholder alignment, and risk escalation.

What you bring

• 3-5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, ETL Development, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills with experience supporting production ETL workloads.
• Proven experience in ETL operations, production support, incident management, and performing RCA.
• Working knowledge of database performance tuning, server resource management, and capacity planning; SQL Server experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage client teams effectively and navigate ambiguity.
