Data Engineer

The Data Engineer role at Meridian Systematics focuses on designing, building, and maintaining data driven infrastructure in Springfield, VA, onsite.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data management systems.
• Implement and manage ETL and ELT processes to move and transform data across systems.
• Create and maintain data models, catalogs, data warehouses or data lakes, and manage schemas for organized storage.
• Ensure data quality and governance by applying validation methods and implementing security policies.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business leaders to deliver data solutions aligned with company objectives.
• Automate repetitive tasks and data workflows using scripts and orchestration tools.
• Monitor data system performance and optimize for speed, reliability, and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Hands-on experience with big data tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with ETL frameworks and tools such as Talend, Informatica, or AWS Glue.
