Job Description

Join Deloitte's AI and Engineering team in Sacramento, CA for a Data Engineer III role that centers on Teradata database administration, performance optimization, and cross functional collaboration to support data operations and analytics. Compensation

Annual salary range: USD 97,900 - 163,100.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Teradata environments, including servers, databases, partitions, tables, indexes, and storage structures to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Perform SQL performance tuning and optimization to improve query efficiency and overall database performance.
  • Manage Teradata utilities such as BTEQ, load utilities, and workload management tools to support data operations and processing.
  • Monitor system health, identify maintenance needs, and proactively apply upgrades, patch management, and performance enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to communicate system status, resolve issues, and provide updates on Teradata environment health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required clearance for this role
  • Eight or more years of experience as a Teradata DBA with strong expertise in database administration and systems management
  • Two or more years of experience with Teradata utilities (BTEQ, load management, query execution management) and user/database administration
  • Two or more years of SQL experience with demonstrated performance tuning and query optimization
  • Ability to travel 5-20 percent, depending on client engagements
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to build and sustain professional relationships
