AVP Senior Software Engineer

OZK Labs, the entrepreneurial center of Bank OZK, is based in the Innovation District in Downtown St. Petersburg, FL. In this role, you’ll help drive the digital transformation of community banking by designing and developing high-quality software applications using modern technologies and best practices. The AVP Senior Software Engineer position includes technical leadership and mentorship, with hands-on ownership across the software lifecycle in an agile environment.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications while following coding standards and best practices to complete work on time and accurately.
• Provide technical assistance to team members on complex engineering challenges and mentor engineers to support their technical growth.
• Work on projects of significant complexity with general supervision.
• Collaborate effectively across functions and teams in an agile environment with a solution-oriented mindset.
• Deliver technical leadership by staying current on the latest technologies, best practices, and architecture patterns.
• Contribute to application architecture, engineering standards, infrastructure, and the delivery process.
• Review code contributions from other engineers to support quality and architectural soundness.
• Follow Bank policy, practice, and procedure, producing accurate, thorough, and timely results while meeting commitments.
• Complete training as needed and apply discretion, judgment, and critical thinking in essential job functions.
• Interact with and communicate with all levels of management on a variety of assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, architectural patterns, and best practices.
• Knowledge and experience with modern technologies used to develop scalable, performant web, desktop, and mobile applications.
• Preferably experience with ASP.NET, React.js, Vue.js, React Native frameworks; JavaScript, TypeScript, C# languages; and Azure cloud.
• Effective verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.
• Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while delivering quality work on time.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a continually changing environment.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute to their growth.
• Ability to contribute to application architecture, engineering standards, infrastructure, and delivery process.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably computer science) or commensurate work experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in software engineering, OR a Master’s degree in computer science or related field plus at least one (1) year of software engineering work experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with one or more of the required technologies: ASP.NET, Node.js, React.js, Vue.js, React Native frameworks, JavaScript, TypeScript, C# languages, or Azure cloud.
