AI Developer

Alternative Funding Group, a profitable fintech focused on small business funding, seeks an AI Developer to steer the technical direction of its AI initiatives on site in Fort Lauderdale. You will partner with leadership and the existing development team to move projects from momentum to production and shape the next wave of AI tools with tangible impact, right here in Fort Lauderdale. The role offers a strong salary path, with a range of $90,000 to $140,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the engineering direction of the companys AI initiatives, collaborating with developers and leadership to advance ongoing projects, strengthen them, and architect the next wave of AI tools.
• Within the first 30 days, get oriented by understanding the existing systems, meeting every team, and identifying high-leverage opportunities.
• Partner with leadership to define a technical roadmap and deliver at least one end-to-end, high-impact tool.
• Start establishing company-wide AI development standards.
• Execute against the roadmap in the 60–90 day window, codify standards, and elevate the work of teammates building AI tools without formal engineering backgrounds.
• Build AI tools and agents that address real problems for real users, delivering measurable impact in hours saved and dollars unlocked.
• Contribute to architecture decisions alongside existing developers and leadership.
• Ship reliably by balancing speed with durable, high-quality work.
• Raise the engineering bar across the organization.
• Grow with the AI function as its scope expands over time.

Requirements

• A proven track record of delivering tangible projects, with verifiable work on GitHub, side projects, or prior roles.
• Solid fluency in modern AI development, including OpenAI, Anthropic, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, MCP, and prompt engineering applied to real products.
• A generalist with depth across Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, cloud platforms, APIs, databases, and front-end when needed, with the ability to unblock yourself.
• A strong craft mindset focusing on documentation, error handling, edge cases, and long-term viability.
• Excellent collaboration skills in a small company setting, working directly with developers, operations, finance, and leadership, with adaptable communication styles.
• Coachable and capable of mentoring others.
