Tecuity is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to design, implement, and maintain internet applications and supporting systems for a multi-tenant .NET-based product used by Secretary of State offices.
Role Overview
This position provides end-to-end ownership of assigned features, including automated testing, code review, AI-assisted development verification, and production support. Work spans the web application, API, and database layers, with a focus on delivering reliable changes that meet Tecuity engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design innovative, optimal solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather and define requirements, estimate effort, and influence user experience, design decisions, and architecture.
- Contribute to project implementation across schedules and milestones, including integration into the broader system.
- Participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle.
- Produce quality code and help uphold a strong team and company culture.
- Deliver features and defect fixes across the web application, API, and database layers, with primary responsibility for the quality of your own work.
- Write and maintain automated tests and ensure changes continue to pass pull request and build validation gates.
- Participate in code review as both an author and reviewer, following Tecuity coding standards and Pull Request guidelines.
- Use AI-assisted development tooling as part of the normal workflow, treating AI-generated code with the same review, testing, and verification standards as manually written code.
- Author engineering documentation for work deliverables, including acceptance criteria, QA testing instructions, effort estimates, and explanations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide user support for web software applications and support your own changes through development, staging, and production, including investigating defects and data issues that do not reproduce locally.
- Participate in the build and release process for assigned implementations, including branch and promotion workflows in Azure DevOps.
- Manage multiple competing priorities and implementations with little to no supervision.
- Perform other programming duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of professional experience coding in C# in a .NET environment, including experience with .NET 8 and .NET 10, ASP.NET Core, Web API, LINQ, and maintenance of established .NET Framework implementations (legacy).
- 6+ years of experience with MS SQL Server or equivalent SQL experience, with strong ability in stored procedures and functions.
- Experience with web technologies including ASP.NET, HTML5, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, and JSON.
- Practical experience with a component-based JavaScript framework (front end is React with Redux).
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience with Entity Framework Core, including migrations, alongside stored-procedure based data access.
- Experience writing automated unit tests and working in a codebase where tests gate the build.
- Experience with Git in a branch-and-pull request workflow.
- Experience developing cross-browser code and responsive CSS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing clearly for non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted development tooling while retaining full ownership of correctness.

AI-Assisted Development
AI-assisted development is used in full production as a standard part of engineers’ daily workflow. Claude Code is actively used and its role is expanding. You are expected to learn strengths and failure modes firsthand and verify AI output rather than accept it.
AI is treated as a fast collaborator that still requires oversight. Engineers use it to move faster without lowering standards.
