Vocational Specialist
Job Description
Under direct supervision, the Vocational Specialist delivers individualized employment services, from discovery to job placement, while keeping client documentation accurate.
- Lead the discovery process to identify personal attributes, interests, skills, talents, and preferences
- Guide job seekers through discovery to determine strengths and ideal work conditions
- Develop a solid client profile and establish a personalized job placement plan
- Create customized job search strategies, including detailed timelines
- Build confidence and create buy-in with job seekers
- Generate employment opportunities through regular employer contacts
- Use public relations and community interaction to find and develop jobs
- Follow up on leads with potential employers and support job development
- Seek community opportunities and forge meaningful business relationships
- Use business acumen to understand employer needs and challenges
- Support clients through interviews and onboarding
- Advocate for individuals, services, and innovative employment practices
- Develops and executes job placement plan
- Ensure complete and accurate files are established and maintained
- Complete paperwork, maintain files, and keep client documentation up to date
- Prepare associated reports
- Provide transportation to clients as required by program design and job location
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Typically requires HS diploma
- ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) Certification is required
- Typically requires 1-2 years’ experience in job development with individuals with special needs or vocational rehabilitation; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
- Ability to multi-task and accept challenges
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations
- Consistently demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills
- Maintains a customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions
- Strong oral and written communication skills with individuals, groups, staff, and the public
- Exercises discretion and maintains a high level of confidentiality for sensitive documentation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements
- Ability to travel throughout Southern California with reliable transportation
- Maintain a driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards
- Must have and maintain proper auto insurance and vehicle registration
- Ability to pass post-offer medical examination and tuberculosis test
- Must pass all drug testing required by ESSC
- Reliable transportation, insurance, and a clean DMV record
- Spanish speaking preferred

Salary: USD 25 per hourly
