SciTec offers a mission driven, onsite Software Engineer role in Aurora, CO with a salary range of USD 130,000 to 170,000 per year. Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational services remain available, reliable, and performant for critical mission systems
  • Monitor software infrastructure health using metrics, logs, and alerts
  • Respond to incidents and work toward resolution
  • Maintain and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities
  • Conduct root cause analysis for outages in infrastructure and services
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Participate in post incident reviews
  • Improve system reliability through automation, standardization, and proactive engineering
  • Support the software system lifecycle, including upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
  • Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing software systems
  • Leverage knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance trade offs
  • Assist with integration, testing, and debugging in Linux environments
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, training, and clear cross organization communication
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or related technical field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of professional Linux experience
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high quality code
  • Demonstrated performance optimization skills for data intensive or compute intensive systems
  • Ability to work onsite at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado
  • Effective communication skills and strong attention to detail

Preferred qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI DoD security clearance
  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field
  • Experience with mission critical data processing workflows for remotely sensed data such as OPIR, EO/IR, SAR, Spectral, RF or similar
  • Experience with software development, integration, and deployment within government frameworks
  • Knowledge of cloud environments and transitioning from on premise solutions
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker or Podman and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with operational planning activities
  • Experience providing customer support and help desk activities
