Position overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions for NGA. You will implement high quality software across the full stack while collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver reliable, maintainable systems. The ideal candidate holds strong object oriented programming expertise, robust backend development experience, and the flexibility to contribute to frontend and DevOps efforts as needed. This role requires Top Secret with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Develop: Design, test, troubleshoot, and maintain scalable software applications using robust object oriented design principles (Java or Python).
• API & Database Integration: Build and maintain high performance RESTful services; develop and optimize complex SQL queries and database schemas.
• System Optimization: Develop, deploy, and troubleshoot applications within Linux based environments, diagnosing issues across both application and database layers.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Participate in technical design discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and support code quality through constructive reviews.
• Drive Solutions: Serve as a technical lead on complex tasks with minimal supervision, translating mission requirements into effective technical solutions.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required per contract.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 8–12 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.
• Core Tech Stack: Professional experience with Java or Python for object oriented applications.
• Backend & Environment: Strong experience with REST APIs, SQL query optimization, and working knowledge of Linux deployment environments.
• Must have a Top Secret with SCI eligibility and able to obtain a Polygraph.

Preferred qualifications

• Geospatial Expertise: Knowledge of geospatial data formats, tools, and standards (OGC, GeoServer, PostGIS, ESRI).
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with multi cloud architectures or specific AWS services (S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, CloudFormation, RDS).
• IC Environments: Familiarity with Intelligence Community enterprise tools (Keycloak, Vault).
• Modern Data & Frontend: Experience with NoSQL (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch) and UI/UX frontend web development.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Developer, Security+, CISSP, or SAFe Agile.
