Sr. Data Engineer

The Sr. Data Engineer will design and build enterprise-grade data pipelines and lakehouse architecture inside the UVM Health Microsoft Fabric data platform. The position supports reliable, scalable data integration from Epic and operational source systems into a unified data model for analytics used in clinical care, operations, and quality improvement.

Role Overview

As part of the UVM Medical Center team in South Burlington, VT (onsite), this role applies Microsoft Fabric and Azure-based data engineering practices to deliver dependable data pipelines and lakehouse capabilities. The work focuses on enabling downstream analytics through a unified data model that brings together data from Epic and operational systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build enterprise-grade data pipelines and lakehouse architecture within the UVM Health Microsoft Fabric data platform.
• Ensure reliable and scalable delivery of high-quality data from Epic and operational source systems into the unified data model.
• Support downstream analytics used for clinical care, operations, and quality improvement.
• Act as a technical lead on complex data integration projects.
• Mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or equivalent cloud data platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and PySpark.
• Proven ability to lead technical components of complex data projects.
• Experience working in agile product delivery is preferred.
