Software Engineer (Platform Engineering)

Versant Media builds a video platform ecosystem that supports digital, OTT, and authenticated viewing experiences. As a Software Engineer focused on Platform Engineering, you will help design and deliver the end-to-end video delivery stack, including playback, authentication, live and on-demand pipelines, and the observability needed to keep experiences reliable across devices.

This hybrid role is based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with a range of responsibilities spanning player frameworks, performance optimization, secure integrations, and advertising through DAI and core ad tech.

What you’ll do

• Contribute to development of video player frameworks and SDKs across web, iOS, Android, and CTV.
• Implement authenticated playback experiences that include personalization and analytics.
• Optimize startup time, buffering, bitrate adaptation, and overall QoE across device types and network conditions.
• Build support for real-time and near-real-time workflows for live sports, news, and event-based programming.
• Implement advertising solutions using DAI and core ad tech integrations across the platform landscape.
• Ensure secure and scalable integrations with MVPDs, identity providers, and subscription platforms.
• Integrate with personalization services and data platforms to deliver user-specific context and optimizations.
• Partner with Product, Distribution, Ad Tech, Data, and Editorial teams to deliver coordinated video experiences.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps teams to support scalable, reliable platform operations.
• Work with product and architecture teams to align technical direction with business priorities.

What you bring

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with a background in video technology.
• Experience with HLS/DASH, DRM, CDNs, encoding/transcoding, and player frameworks.
• Strong skills in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and HTML/CSS, plus experience with frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Experience building and integrating backend services in Node, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with AVOD and monetization workflows.
• Experience with analytics, observability, and performance monitoring.
• Comfort working with AWS and/or Azure, and experience with CI/CD methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Compensation

USD 120,000 - 150,000 per year.
