Job Description

Travelers is seeking a Software Engineer II - Team Lead to guide a software engineering squad in delivering end-to-end solutions using AWS and TypeScript. This onsite role in Hartford, CT blends hands-on development with leadership duties, mentoring teammates, and aligning technical efforts with business objectives.

Location: Hartford, CT (onsite). Salary: USD 120,400 - 198,700 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a software engineering team, assigning tasks according to each member's skills, workload, and growth objectives.
  • Review code from team members to ensure quality, performance, and adherence to standards.
  • Address complex technical challenges and remove blockers hindering progress.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers, supporting their career development.
  • Assess and propose tools, frameworks, and technologies for the team's use.
  • Conduct analysis, design, development, and configuration work, including defining technical requirements, contributing as an individual contributor toward team goals.
  • Investigate and resolve defects and incidents of high complexity, escalating when appropriate.
  • Work independently to tackle well-defined and loosely scoped problems.
  • Pursue opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related STEM field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • An additional 4 years of software engineering experience.
