Job Description

Home Depot is seeking a Software Engineer II focused on ML and AI to join our Atlanta, GA team with remote work options. In this role you will develop, deploy, and support production applications while collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable software that advances our ML and AI initiatives.

  • Compensation includes a competitive annual salary range of USD 90,000 - 170,000.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with UX, engineering, and product management to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
  • Document and review work to ensure quality and change control standards are met.
  • Partner with the Product Team to ensure user stories are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable.
  • Write custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases.
  • Develop scripts for destructive testing to validate production resiliency.
  • Program configuration, modification, and setup activities on large projects using Home Depot approved methodologies.
  • Configure commercial off the shelf solutions to align with evolving business needs.
  • Create meaningful dashboards, logging, alerts, and response plans to proactively address issues.
  • Actively seek ways to grow and be challenged through formal and informal development channels.
  • Learn from both successful and failed experiments when tackling new problems.
  • Collaborate with teammates in agile processes and contribute to team success.
  • Foster partnerships and work collaboratively to meet shared objectives.
  • Relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people to drive outcomes.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • 1–3 years of relevant software development or engineering experience.
  • Experience programming in Python and at least one object-oriented programming language (Java preferred).
  • Experience developing, integrating, or supporting AI/ML solutions, including machine learning models, generative AI applications, LLMs, or AI-powered services.
  • Experience using AI development frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, LangChain, OpenAI/Azure AI services, or similar technologies.
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries against relational databases.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience with source code management and version control systems (Git preferred).
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and cloud-native application development (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated deployment tools.
  • Experience building and supporting microservice based architectures and APIs.
  • Experience with modern debugging, monitoring, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Exposure to AI model evaluation, prompt engineering, model tuning, or MLOps practices.
  • Exposure to security frameworks for user and service authentication and authorization.
  • Experience creating and executing unit, functional, integration, performance, and automated tests.
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and agile development methodologies.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
