Job Description

Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) is hiring an entry level software engineer to support the ORCA group with the development and ongoing improvement of modeling and data analysis software tools. This onsite role in San Diego, CA focuses on building utilities across desktop, server backend, and web-based environments, from initial design through testing and documentation.

You will work on new capabilities as well as enhancements to existing software, applying both engineering discipline and analytical problem solving to meet customer needs. The role also emphasizes clear communication with diverse stakeholders and strong attention to detail throughout the software lifecycle.

Role overview

  • Design, develop, and improve desktop, server backend, and web-based software utilities, including specialized tools to support customers.
  • Analyze and quantify requirements and apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to build solutions.
  • Test software thoroughly and document software products to support maintenance and reuse.
  • Update and enhance existing software systems over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, including design patterns, polymorphism, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience in software development and database design and maintenance.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
