Job Description

Qualcomm’s Innovation Center, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer in San Diego, CA with an onsite work setup. This role focuses on building end-to-end system software that spans user space and kernel space, with practical impact across operating systems, Android frameworks, and the Linux kernel. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to deliver system-level solutions that align with Android framework and Linux kernel programming principles.

What you’ll work on

  • Develop end-to-end solutions across both user space and kernel space, optimizing resource usage while following Android framework, Linux system, and Linux kernel programming principles.
  • Partner with teams across systems, multimedia, architecture, and other groups to build system-level software solutions.

Core requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of OS fundamentals, data structures, Linux kernel, and the device driver model.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, C++ (including Libraries/JNI), and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Android Application Framework, Android native daemons/services, and AIDL HALs.
  • Hands-on debugging experience using T32, gdb, and crash analysis using android tombstones and crash utilities (including tools referenced in the role).
  • Experience with Git, Android Make, Android Tools, Android Studio, and adb.

Helpful background (preferred)

  • Hands-on experience in system programming on any Linux/Unix OS.
  • Experience developing Linux kernel drivers and modifying kernel code.
  • Knowledge of AI models, with familiarity using Python for AI/ML-related software development.

Compensation and incentives

Pay range: $99,500.00 - $149,300.00 per year.
