Software Engineer
Job Description
Nokia is expanding the Nokia 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) team and hiring Software Engineers to help increase network flexibility and operational automation. In this role, you will support applied R&D and embedded software development, with clear ownership for the features you design, implement, verify, and improve.
Working within the Switched WDM product group, you will contribute to software for products, services, systems, and tools used in high-speed optical networking. The positions are based in Murray Hill, New Jersey, United States (onsite).
What you’ll do
- Research, architect, design, develop, and test software for Nokia products, services, systems, and tools
- Define, create, integrate, verify, and modify SW/system components
- Use innovative approaches to meet customer requirements and specifications
- Apply principles and techniques from computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
- Develop expertise in a key system component, with end-to-end ownership and responsibility for designing and implementing features within your functional area
What you bring
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Experience using AI LLM, C++, SDL, and C++ boost libraries
- Development experience in C++ on Linux systems, including associated compilers and debuggers
- A demonstrated record of delivering high-quality object-oriented software
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team
- Experience writing device drivers or BSP software is desirable
- Knowledge of Optical devices, OTN, Ethernet, or TDM protocols is desirable
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional R&D environment
