Software Engineer
Job Description
Join CVS Health’s Data Engineering team to help build a new end-to-end internal self-service application that modernizes how teams ingest, monitor, and preview data. This onsite role in Washington, DC focuses on improving data access and management through self-service ingestion, automated monitoring and incident management, and data preview capabilities.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain full-stack features for the application using React (TypeScript) and Python.
- Build frontend components and contribute to backend services, including APIs, data models, and basic caching.
- Write clean, well-tested code and ensure unit and integration test coverage for your changes.
- Participate in code reviews by giving and receiving constructive feedback to uphold team quality standards.
- Integrate with Kafka-driven pipelines and the Snowflake data platform under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and validate functional correctness after deployment.
- Implement logging and basic observability instrumentation for the features you build.
- Communicate blockers and progress clearly, escalating issues with appropriate urgency.
- Use AI development tools such as Claude, Snowflake CoCo, and Copilot to improve development speed and code quality.
- Seek mentorship and coaching from senior engineers and share learnings with teammates.
Required qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience building applications in both React (TypeScript) and Python.
- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests using established testing frameworks.
- Proficiency with Git-based version control, including branching, pull requests, and code review workflows.

About the project
The Data Self-Service Platform addresses critical challenges in current data operations. Today, data ingestion is often manual and ticket-driven, creating delays and limiting self-service for application teams. In this role, you will help build a platform that enables data owners to ingest, transform, and serve their data with control and accountability for data quality. The platform will support collaboration between data producers and consumers and streamline testing changes.
Pay and schedule
Anticipated weekly hours: 40. Time type: Full time. Pay range: USD 64,890 - 173,040 per yearly.
