Software Developer - Java

Uline is seeking a Software Developer with strong Java expertise to lead the development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of Java applications in an on-site environment in Waukegan, IL. The role combines hands-on engineering with collaboration across architecture, planning, and team mentorship.

Role Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy reliable Java applications that align with business requirements using industry-leading technologies and established coding standards.
• Review code, improve performance, and help maintain application responsiveness and quality through consistent technical evaluation.
• Participate in architectural design reviews and support project planning by contributing engineering insights for strategic improvements.
• Mentor other developers and support leadership in cross-functional development practices.
• Work closely with the development team to maintain consistent processes and meet delivery timelines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant programming education.
• 4+ years of hands-on Java development, including enterprise experience with the Spring framework.
• Experience with REST web services and microservice environments, along with Git, JPA, SQL, JSON, SOAP, and XML, plus code versioning tools.
• Working knowledge of caching, service discovery, and CI/CD tools, with familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Compensation and Location

• Location: Waukegan, IL (onsite)
• Salary: USD 90,000 - 128,000 per year
