Software/Data Engineer
Job Description
Peraton’s Cyber Mission business unit is seeking a Software/Data Engineer to support a large enterprise-wide engineering effort within the Intelligence Community. Based in Laurel, MD on an onsite basis, this position will contribute to the development and improvement of complex software systems while providing input that informs system design, including work that leverages COTS/GOTS solutions.
The role focuses on engineering and sustaining software capabilities, reviewing and testing components against design requirements, and documenting results. You will also analyze system performance standards, coordinate with users or system engineers, and investigate problem areas to keep mission systems operating effectively.
What you’ll do
- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems aligned to documented requirements
- Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements
- Document software test results
- Apply software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the environment
- Provide input to software components of system design, including Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development
- Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards
- Confer with users or system engineers to support engineering decisions
- Analyze usage and work processes and investigate problem areas
- Support one of the largest enterprise-wide engineering contracts within the Intelligence Community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 19 years of demonstrated Software Engineering experience
- OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field plus 17 years of Software Engineering experience
- OR PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field plus 14 years of Software Engineering experience
- OR High School Diploma or GED plus 20 years of Software Engineering experience
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using OpenStack and comparable platforms
- Strong Linux and Python background
- Understanding of IT management and operations
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Additional experience and strengths
- Excellent oral, written, organizational, and communications skills
- Broad experience in system engineering disciplines
- Software development and Develop Operations experience
- Experience using network automation tools
- Familiarity with cloud security and operations
- PowerShell familiarity
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect are a plus
Compensation
$176,000 - $282,000 per year.
