Job Description

You will help expand the platform, steer engineering efforts across cross functional teams, mentor engineers, and deliver user focused features that broaden access to support.

You will own work from concept through delivery and beyond, refactor legacy code while introducing new features, and design robust, scalable solutions. The role also involves mentoring peers, collaborating across teams to advance our mission of helping others, and delivering high quality code with the end user in mind.

Responsibilities

  • Translate user stories into intuitive experiences that meet real needs
  • Own initiatives from inception to delivery and beyond
  • Refactor legacy code while creating new features
  • Mentor other engineers and support their growth
  • Collaborate within and across teams to fulfill our mission to help others
  • Write high quality code with the end user in mind
  • Architect for robustness, extensibility, scale, sustainability, and security
  • Contribute quality feedback in code reviews and pair on tasks when needed

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience architecting a feature to broaden long term impact
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Experience drafting technical designs and breaking down complex features to deliver value
  • Experience with Python and ReactJS preferred
  • Comfortable working independently in a complex Python codebase
  • Willing to scale up on Python if you have not worked with it recently
  • Interest in mentoring others and fostering individual growth
  • Good understanding of SQL, ORMs, and non relational databases
  • Preferred GCP experience; other cloud platforms welcome
  • Understanding of web performance strategies and metrics
  • Experience with microservices or solid understanding of them
  • Ability to follow through on commitments
  • Ability to communicate technical needs and solutions to product partners
