Senior Software Engineer - Optimization, Remix

Via is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Remix engineering team and help build and scale end-to-end features for public transportation planning and scheduling. If you want to work on systems where performance matters and collaboration spans design, data science, product, and transit planning, this role centers optimization and reliable backend engineering to deliver fast, user-centered experiences for riders.

What you’ll build

• Improve planning and scheduling products so planners can explore new concepts, make data-informed decisions, and deliver better service to riders.
• Build, scale, and enhance the optimization and backend systems behind those products, ensuring they run fast and reliably in production.
• Develop and maintain processes and tools that keep productivity and code quality high.

How you’ll work

• Partner with designers, data scientists, algorithm researchers, product managers, in-house transit planners and schedulers, and customers.
• Work across a variety of technologies in the stack to deliver strong end-to-end user experience.
• Share input on engineering best practices and architecture within your area of expertise.

What we’re looking for

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building and scaling a computationally hard system in production (for example: optimization, routing, search, simulation, or geospatial processing).

Compensation & benefits

• Salary range: $180,000 - $220,000 per year
• Final salary is determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable.
