Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes/RHEL

The Senior Software Engineer role focuses on forward-looking software and infrastructure architecture that can be deployed into a Linux-based Common Computing Environment (CCE) PaaS. The position includes improving build processes, managing test environments, coordinating external communications, and leading team efforts while integrating containerized applications in Kubernetes.

Location and Work Model

Manassas, VA (hybrid). This position is flex on-site, and on-site team members will be part of the GDMS Ashton Avenue Manassas facility.

Compensation

USD 149,902 - 166,298 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop software and infrastructure architecture deployable into a Linux-based Common Computing Environment (CCE) PaaS.
• Improve the software and infrastructure build process.
• Set up and configure hardware/software test environments.
• Manage and coordinate external communications.
• Provide team leadership to support delivery of required capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a related STEM field, plus minimum 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
• Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Due to work performed within facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Essential Capabilities

• Successful architecture of infrastructure within the SWFTS environment, including engagement and coordination with key stakeholders.
• Experience integrating containerized software applications in Kubernetes or another container runtime.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate software, infrastructure, and systems-level issues, including on products not developed by your team or contract.
• Experience with automated testing for deploying and managing custom containerized applications and open-source tools/components.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles in the development of prototype and production software products.

Preferred / Desired Capabilities

• Experience with Ansible IaC, Java Spring Boot, Python, and Kubernetes.
• Experience generating Docker container files from scratch.
• Experience with Bash scripting.
• Prior or current leadership role(s) within an integrated product team structure.
• Understanding of cluster networking and design capabilities.
