Senior Software Engineer – Finite Element Analysis

Senior Software Engineer – Finite Element Analysis based in Houston, TX (onsite) at Sinopec Tech Houston, focused on building 3D FEM software for geomechanics and reservoir simulation.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development of new finite element software using our in‑house parallel FEM framework.
• Design models, efficient numerical algorithms, and software for geomechanics and reservoir modeling across Windows and Linux.
• Collaborate with GUI developers to craft pre‑ and post‑processing tools, mesh generation routines, and user interfaces for the FEM package.
• Architect, implement, and maintain software components and assist with software testing activities.
• Actively contribute to project quality and uphold high standards for source code quality.
• Produce and maintain comprehensive software documentation.
• Share expertise with the team and mentor colleagues as needed.

Requirements

• Demonstrated programming proficiency in Fortran, Python, or other appropriate languages.
• Advanced knowledge of numerical methods and coding, including FEM and FDM.
• Proven experience with parallel computing and other high‑performance computing techniques.
• Experience developing on Linux and Windows environments.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving abilities with excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with 3D visualization programming is a plus.
• Background in software development for numerical analysis, hydraulic fracturing, reservoir simulation, geoscience, or geomechanics is preferred.
• Self‑starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet objectives.
• High integrity and reliability to deliver on commitments and deadlines.
• Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential company IP appropriately.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanics, or a related technical field.
