Senior Software Engineer - Bruin Platform Integration
Job Description
Details
- Location: New York, NY (onsite)
- Salary: USD 150,000 - 180,000 per year
- Minimum experience: 7 years
Responsibilities
- SDK and Public API ownership: lead the design, delivery, and evolution of the Bruin SDK and Bruin’s public APIs end-to-end, including contract design, versioning strategy, pagination, error handling, authentication, rate limiting, and language-specific ergonomics.
- Developer Experience Portal: own the Bruin developer portal as a product, delivering quickstart guides, API references, code samples, an interactive playground, an SDK changelog, and a documentation pipeline that stays in sync with the codebase; treat documentation as a first-class engineering deliverable.
- Bruin Integration Marketplace: drive the design and expansion of the Integration Marketplace—the catalog of connectors for customer environments. Own the connector framework, certification model, secrets management, observability, and onboarding experience, delivering foundational connectors across ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk, Freshservice, BMC), HR feeds, MDM, SSO, zero-touch provisioning, and mobile threat defense.
- Enterprise Integration Patterns: apply established patterns for webhook delivery and retries, eventual consistency, schema evolution, idempotency, replay, and observability across diverse customer systems to prevent production issues.
- AI-Native Integration Patterns: design the integration experience to be consumable by modern AI agents and AI-native applications, with clear tool semantics, well-described capabilities, and patterns that enable safe and effective AI-first usage.
- Customer and Partner Collaboration: engage directly with customer engineering teams during marketplace onboarding and early adopter programs, feeding real-world integration feedback back into SDK, API, and connector design.
- Code Quality: conduct code reviews, write well-tested and maintainable code, uphold a high engineering standard, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers as needed.
Requirements
- Developer-facing impact: proven track record shipping developer-facing surfaces such as SDKs, public APIs, or platform products that external developers integrate with.
- Experience level: 7+ years of professional software engineering with substantial emphasis on SDK, public API, or platform engineering.
- Ownership of production-facing surfaces: demonstrated ownership of a developer-facing SDK or public API at production scale, with the ability to discuss design decisions, trade-offs, and future improvements.
- Languages and ecosystems: strong proficiency in at least two modern languages, with TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js preferred, plus working knowledge of additional ecosystems (e.g., .NET, Python, Go, Ruby, Java) and related SDK conventions.
- API and SDK design for discovery: experience designing APIs and SDKs optimized for developer discovery, featuring predictable naming, strong types, rich inline docs, and IDE-friendly patterns.
- Developer portal or docs experience: hands-on work building or contributing to a developer portal or documentation site, including docs-as-code workflows and OpenAPI specs.
- Enterprise integration concerns: practical experience with OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, SAML, SCIM, webhooks, REST, GraphQL, retry and idempotency patterns, and schema versioning.
- Containerization and CI/CD: hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker, along with CI/CD pipelines.
- Cloud familiarity: exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related patterns, transferable to on-prem environments.
- AI-assisted development tools: proficiency with AI tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as part of the engineering workflow.
- Communication: strong written communication for SDK docs, API design docs, and customer-facing integration guides that engineers actually use.
- Customer empathy: direct experience working with developers integrating against your product and using that feedback to shape design.
Nice to Have
- AI-focused API/SDK design: experience designing APIs or SDKs for AI agents and AI-native applications, including tool-use interfaces and related patterns.
- IPaaS or B2B SaaS exposure: prior work at an iPaaS or a B2B SaaS company with a published SDK and partner connector ecosystem.
- Enterprise integrations at scale: direct experience integrating with systems like ServiceNow, Jira, Workday, Okta, or similar at scale.
- Telecom and related domains: familiarity with telecom, mobile device management, or network monitoring protocols and vendor APIs.
- Advocacy and writing: prior developer advocacy, DevRel, or technical writing contributions.
- Domain experience: telecom, managed services, or B2B platform domain knowledge.
