Job Description
Relentless Talent is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for a hybrid role in Buffalo, NY (with occasional travel). You’ll work on a Medical Billing Automation SaaS platform, enhancing backend systems that connect Python, AI/LLMs, and EDI to automate complex billing workflows. The role reports directly to the CTO, with opportunities for direct interaction with the Founder/CEO.

Responsibilities
- Lead development of backend systems in Python, supporting robust integration with AI models, LLMs, and EDI to automate complex billing tasks
- Design and implement scalable microservices architectures using AWS or Azure for high-volume data processing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build RESTful APIs and web services that enable communication between internal components and external systems
- Build user-facing experiences using React, Angular, or similar front-end frameworks to support billing workflow usability
- Apply system design and data modeling to create efficient database schemas in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, and support MongoDB when appropriate
- Implement rigorous testing and debugging practices (including unit and integration testing) aligned with SDLC standards
- Participate in Agile execution using Scrum or Kanban, including sprint planning and stand-ups
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Python for backend development and AI integration
- Strong knowledge of AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), for automation use cases
- Proficiency with EDI standards and protocols for healthcare data exchange
- Expert Python capability for ETL/ELT and automation, including pandas, pydantic, and SQLAlchemy
- Production experience with a workflow orchestration platform such as Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster
- Strong SQL skills across SQL Server and PostgreSQL, plus familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and transformation tooling like dbt
- Disciplined delivery practices, including pytest (or equivalent), GitHub Actions (or similar CI), Docker, and Git-based code review
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services, with Azure preferred
- Effective, verified use of AI-assisted development tools as part of daily engineering practice

This is a hybrid role with remote work and occasional travel. The company indicated occasional travel to the come in East Dallas, with a few days per quarter at most. No work sponsorship or relocation assistance is offered for this role.
