Senior Software Engineer

Advantest Test Solutions (ATS) builds high-performance, cross-platform software platforms that support semiconductor test systems. In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design, develop, and own core platform capabilities, bringing customer-facing technical execution across SLT, Burn-In, and HPC environments.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance software platforms and products for on-premises and hybrid deployments
• Modernize legacy software components into a scalable, production-ready architecture
• Build cross-platform server and terminal applications for Windows, Linux, and macOS, including work with the OneImlx.Terminal framework
• Apply deep expertise in test program development using the ActivATE® test platform system across the SLT, BI, and HPC ecosystem
• Lead software design and implementation across collaboration with Electrical, Mechanical, and Thermal engineering, including creating an ActivATE360® SDK environment for device and instrumentation driver development
• Develop software, drivers, and test programs for advanced silicon targeting for SLT (System Level Test), Burn-In, and HPC (High-Performance Computing)
• Engineer control, communication, and data-flow software across mechatronic and semiconductor test subsystems
• Design and implement SCAN execution and vector conversion pipelines spanning multiple digital pin-card configurations to ensure correctness, scalability, and performance
• Develop distributed systems for high-throughput telemetry, messaging, and data pipelines
• Work extensively with networking and communication protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, and gRPC
• Actively code, design, document, review, and support production-quality software
• Serve as a technical interface with customers and internal cross-functional teams
• Support on-site deployments and complete occasional domestic and international travel (10–20%)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field (M.S. preferred)
• 7+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years with C# and .NET
• Strong expertise in the .NET ecosystem and cross-platform development
• Proficiency with C#, C++, Python, SQL, and NoSQL
• Experience with Apache Pulsar, Microsoft Azure, and distributed messaging systems
• Strong background in multithreading, asynchronous programming, and high-performance systems
• Hands-on experience building and deploying on-premises and hybrid software platforms
• Demonstrated ability in large-scale data flows, telemetry throughput optimization, and system-level design
• Strong technical design, documentation, and communication skills
• Willingness to work onsite in Lake Forest, CA 92630

Preferred / plus qualifications

• Prior experience with semiconductor test systems and testers
• Experience developing or working with semiconductor test IDEs
• Familiarity with ActivATE™ and/or the Advantest 93000 SOC platform (SmarTest)
• Experience with digital test, SCAN, pattern execution, and vector-based test flows
• Experience with modern test frameworks and practices including xUnit, FluentAssertions, TDD, Playwright, and Blazor
