Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
Service Wire seeks an onsite Senior Software Engineer in Culloden, WV to develop, enhance, and maintain the QAD ERP system using Progress 4GL/OpenEdge, with a focus on integration and IT operations optimization.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable Progress 4GL/OpenEdge applications to support the QAD ERP environment and optimize performance.
- Drive the design and rollout of new ERP features, modules, and customizations to meet evolving business needs.
- Apply expertise in Progress database design, tuning, and troubleshooting for ERP-linked data stores.
- Establish robust data backup and recovery processes to safeguard information and ensure compliance.
- Lead or participate in initiatives to integrate QAD ERP with internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data exchange.
- Build, test, and maintain APIs to enable efficient data sharing and system integration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate department requirements into actionable technical solutions.
- Mentor junior developers and provide end-user training to improve ERP utilization and team capability.
- Proactively identify system enhancement opportunities through research and proposing innovative approaches.
- Stay current with Progress programming trends, ERP technology, and manufacturing best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming experience, with manufacturing experience preferred
- Deep understanding of QAD ERP systems, including EE, Adaptive, advanced modules and customization capabilities
- Expertise in managing and optimizing Progress databases, with focus on performance tuning and security
- Advanced knowledge of QAD’s .Net UI, Qxtend integration, and eB2.0 framework preferred
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with cloud-based ERP solutions preferred
- Experience with additional programming languages (Java, SQL) and modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) preferred
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
