Senior Software Data Engineer

Peraton supports a large enterprise-wide engineering contract within the Intelligence Community, and this onsite role helps build and improve complex software systems that power mission needs. You will work on a customer environment within the Cyber Mission business unit in Jessup, MD (Laurel, MD area, onsite), with a team focused on engineering rigor, system design input, and practical delivery.

Compensation: $176,000 - $282,000 per year. Support requirement: Full-time with 1880 hours of support per year.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements.
• Review and test software components to ensure they meet design requirements, and document test results.
• Apply software development and software design methodologies that fit the environment.
• Provide input to system design components, including decisions on Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) / Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) versus new development.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards.
• Confer with users or system engineers, analyze usage and work processes, and investigate problem areas.

Required qualifications

• Education and experience combination, such as:
  • PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or an appropriate field plus 14 years of Software Engineering experience, or
  • Master’s plus 17 years, or
  • Bachelor’s plus 19 years, or
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 20 years of Software Engineering experience.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using OpenStack and other comparable platforms.
• Strong Linux and Python background.
• Understanding of IT management and operations.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Helpful experience and technologies

• Linux, Python, OpenStack, PowerShell
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect (a plus)
• PowerShell familiarity
• COTS/GOTS experience
