Job Description

The Eaton Steel Bar Company seeks a Senior Oracle APEX Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable enterprise-grade web applications built on Oracle APEX. This onsite role in Oak Park, Michigan, collaborates closely with IT leadership and cross-functional teams, while mentoring junior developers and pushing performance, security, and innovation across on‑premise and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the architecture and delivery of complex Oracle APEX solutions with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Manage migrations from legacy systems to Oracle APEX, refining database structures and business logic.
  • Design enterprise-grade architectures across on‑premises, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and external platforms.
  • Improve SQL and PL/SQL performance through indexing, query tuning, and partitioning strategies.
  • Build robust authentication, authorization, and data security frameworks for APEX applications.
  • Create advanced interactive dashboards, reports, and BI tools using APEX components.
  • Administer APEX workspace configurations, source control, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs to enable seamless system integrations.
  • Define UI/UX best practices for APEX apps, leveraging Oracle JET, JavaScript, and CSS frameworks.
  • Conduct performance testing, debugging, and SQL analysis with tools such as Explain Plan, SQL Trace, and APEX Debugging.
  • Implement and sustain CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployment processes.
  • Lead Agile development practices, including code reviews and continuous improvement cycles.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Collaborate with database administrators, security teams, and cloud architects on deployment and maintenance activities.
  • Stay current with the latest APEX features and Oracle Cloud advancements to drive innovation in application development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on Oracle APEX development (version 24+ preferred) with enterprise-scale project delivery.
  • Advanced expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, including stored procedures, triggers, and query optimization.
  • Strong proficiency with JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, and Oracle JET for modern UI/UX design.
  • Deep understanding of Oracle Database 19c/23c, including advanced indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience developing and integrating RESTful and SOAP web services.
  • Extensive experience building and managing Oracle APEX applications in on-premise environments; OCI and APEX on Autonomous Database experience is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable APEX solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills for bridging technical and business teams.
