Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Zotec Partners is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and extend governed ML and AI systems for accurate, safe access to data and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ML models and data integrations that power AI-driven products and internal tools
• Connect large language models to real data by building and maintaining tools and integrations for AI systems to query and reason over Zotec data accurately and safely
• Own the ML lifecycle: problem framing, data preparation, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
• Architect AWS-based ML infrastructure that is scalable and cost-aware, using services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, and Lambda
• Apply ontology, taxonomy, or knowledge-graph thinking to improve retrieval, reasoning, or data quality for AI systems

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a STEM field (Master’s degree preferred)
• 3-5 years delivering machine learning solutions at scale
• Proficiency in Python
• Proficiency in ML model development, training, and evaluation
• Proficiency working with structured and unstructured data at scale
• Proficiency in system design for data and ML pipelines
• Familiarity with AWS: SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, and Redshift
• Familiarity with Claude and other large language models
• Familiarity with ontology, knowledge graphs, or structured data modeling
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Experience building and maintaining tools and integrations connecting large language models to real data sources
• Experience deploying and monitoring ML models in production on AWS
• Experience applying knowledge representation (ontologies, taxonomies, or graphs) to improve retrieval or reasoning
• Experience instrumenting models and pipelines for observability and performance monitoring
• Clear, effective communication with cross-functional teams including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and other engineers
• Ability to balance technical depth with practical problem-solving (performance, scalability, accuracy tradeoffs)
• Commitment to clean, maintainable code and mentoring through code reviews, documentation, and collaboration
• Enjoy collaborating closely with a supportive team to tackle complex technical challenges from start to finish
• Understanding of quality standards, processes, compliance, and security in the healthcare industry, with general knowledge of standards such as HIPAA or PCI
• Experience expanding LLM application patterns using retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks
• Experience utilizing knowledge graphs and semantic data modeling to improve data retrieval and reasoning
• Ability to follow development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
