Senior Java Developer

Fortira Inc is hiring a Senior Java Developer (Contract) for an onsite role in New York, NY. In this position, you will help design, build, test, and support enterprise Java applications and distributed systems, with a focus on microservices and RESTful services.

The work centers on delivering reliable backend functionality using Java and the Spring ecosystem, while collaborating across engineering teams to address production issues, improve performance, and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications.
• Build scalable microservices with Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Join architecture and technical design discussions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Partner with DevOps teams on CI/CD implementation.
• Ensure applications meet security, quality, and coding standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Java 8/11/17+.
• Extensive Spring Framework / Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA.
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Strong SQL development and database optimization skills.
• Experience with Git and Maven/Gradle.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
• Redis or distributed caching experience.
• Experience with OAuth2, JWT, or SAML.
• Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
• Exposure to GraphQL or serverless technology.
